Volunteers help to make our programs effective, for youth and for the community!
Whether it is digging and mulching, planting trees, pulling weeds, helping out with events, or reaching out to the community, volunteers are the lifeblood of our programs. It is a mutual benefit for us and the volunteers as we all get the same sense of accomplishment when we are working hands on. A bonus for our visitors is the opportunity to visit with our resident Ambassador, Jack the donkey.
With support from the Community Services Recovery Fund managed by the Canadian Red Cross, the BC Small Wetlands Association developed a strategy to attract and recruit more volunteers and staff as well as adding infrastructure to the organization. We created an orientation and training manual to provide skills development for individuals who want to participate and learn at the same time. We would love you to be part of the excitement at Pleasant Valley Wetland Heritage Park!
