A single tree produces 260 lbs. of oxygen per year and absorbs 48 lbs. of carbon dioxide per year
In 2021 the BC Small Wetlands Association committed to planting 7,000 native trees as part of a reforestation project in the Shuswap and north Okanagan. Since then we have been working with School District 83, the Secwepemc community, the Columbia Shuswap Regional District and other non-profit organizations to plant trees and shrubs on school grounds and in public areas. We also give away trees for adoption by individuals. The trees and shrubs are all native species chosen for the cultural importance to the Secwepemc people.
This program is reliant on funding, donations and the generous support of volunteers.
